Pacquiao-Mayweather fight dead
It would have been the best fight in 25 years. Unfortunately, the two boxers couldn’t agree on Mayweather’s demand that Pacquiao submit himself to blood testing. However, Pacquiao already agreed to the initial demand of Mayweather that he submit to urine testing. The blood testing is uncalled for and Pacquiao is right to reject Mayweather’s unecesseary demand. I think the real reason why Mayweather is backing offf is that he found out that Pacquiao had been talking to God. Ha ha ha… — Perry DiazPromoter calls Pacquiao-Mayweather fight dead

Promoter Bob Arum declared the megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. dead Thursday, though efforts continued to find a compromise to a dispute over blood testing.
“It’s over,” Arum said. “O-V-E-R.”
Arum had set a Thursday deadline for an agreement on testing, the only issue not resolved for the planned March 13 fight. But with the Mayweather camp still insisting on using the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency to conduct the tests, Arum said there wasn’t much left to discuss.
“They’re viewed by the Pacquiao side as being partisan,” Arum said, referring to USADA. “He doesn’t want to use them. I don’t want to use them. They’re so inflexible they can’t be used.”
Despite Arum’s statements, there were some talks through intermediaries to try and salvage …

From what I have seen of stories of the proposed Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, both sides are just acting silly. The financial aspect is so mind-boggling that this fight will certainly go on. The more brouhahas like this, the better publicity for the fight. Now everyone is really talking!
As for Pacquiao’s encounter with God, that has not reached the same status as Cebu’s Brother Stanley Villavicencio’s 32 meetings with God in a near death experience. Pacquiao will convince a few religious fanatics but Villavicencio has convinced millions enough to keep a luxurious life for himself and his family. Pacquiao should have a sponsor to authenticate his encounter with God just as Villavicencio has the backing of the Archbishop of Cebu. We Filipinos are supposed to be intelligent but real fools when it comes to so-called religious miracles.
Why is drug testing uncalled for, because he is a Pilipino? Performance enhancing chemicals or whatever is not only dangerous to people and anyone idolizing the athlete is at risk of copying that athlete’s behavior. Some Football players succumbed to those drugs and other are now experiencing health problems( I think Romanowski an ex- Denver Broco)is one. As a Pilipino, I would like to see Pacquiao beat Mayweather fair and square without the use of chemicals. What is Pacquiao hiding. From what I read this morning, it appears that the reasoning Pacquiao gave was very shallow and weak. You don’t weaken due to lose of 5 to 10 cc’s of blood taken once a weak. I don’t want to believe that his victories are all due to performance enhancing drugs but should he continue to refuse to be tested, I think doubts will be created about those victories. I am not against athletes using drugs if those athletes can assure their followers will not follow them in to that practice.
Perry,
With millions on the table, as a physician, a blood test should not be a deterrent. Just so, that should end all delaying tactics.

Pacquiao should ignore Mayweather’s demand to subject both of them to Olympic-style drug testing.
They are professional boxers covered by the rules of the authorized professional boxing body. And that is enough. Olympic medals are not at stake in the fight.
Pacquiao is the reigning Jr. Welter and Welterweight champion. He does not need to fight Mayweather in order to earn million dollars or make history again.
Pacquiao should counter that Mayweather should fight first the winner of Berto-Mosely bout. Should Mayweather win then that’s the proper time to talk on demands of both sides.
I got this quote from Scoop Malinowski (boxing analyst). He said that he wouldn’t be surprised if this is what Mayweather was actually thinking.
Mayweather said:
“I am a coward who knows without any shred of uncertainty that Manny Pacquiao will destroy my career and future earning power at age 32. I tried everything to get out of this fight – from hoping he would lose to Hatton, Oscar and finally Cotto, hoping his Cotto PPV #s would be small, ordering Pac to call me out and ask for the fight, trying to force a quick fight on March 13, manipulating Oscar, Schaefer and Haymon to do my dirty bidding – but this time my cowardly ducking tactics coompletely failed to work and on the evening of January 6, 2010 the truth is out of the bag. I have uncontrollable cowardice in my heart and soul. My skills only work with slow, old, faded second raters. I know prime beasts like Margarito, Cotto, Mosley and Williams would knock me out. And I know Manny Pacquiao would not only slaughter me but his beautiful class, honor and dignity would make my immature and foul behavior look like a complete ugly disgrace in comparison. I know for certain he is the superior in every category. I don’t know how this open display of pure, honest cowardice will effect my relationships with HBO, Golden Boy or my stupid fans. But I don’t really care, at least now I don’t have to get slaughtered, brutalized and bashed upside the head by the greatest fighter in boxing history Manny Pacquiao on March 13.”

Hi Raul,
Good insight. I tend to believe that Mayweather is scared of Pacquiao. He wants to remain “undefeated” and the only way to stay undefeated is not to fight Pacquiao.
Honestly, I think Pacquiao should go for an easy win against Foreman for his eight world title in eight weight classes. That would be a record for a very long time.
