Villar far second, says SWS
Philippine Daily Inquirer
MANILA, Philippines—Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III has topped a survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) in the vote-rich regions of Luzon, winning the nod of an overwhelming 50 percent of respondents and dislodging front-running Sen. Manny Villar who placed second with 14 percent, according to ABS-CBN.
The survey was commissioned by private individuals and businessmen and was conducted on Sept. 5 and 6 among 1,200 respondents during the week before Aquino formally announced his decision to seek the highest post in the land, the TV network reported Sunday night.
The polling was done in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Central Luzon and Calabarzon—an area that is home to 40 percent of registered voters—and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
ABS-CBN said that 10 percent of respondents belonged to the A, B and C classes—the wealthy and the middle class—while 90 percent belonged to the D and E classes—the poor.

hi Perry,
this survey is very encouraging …I hope this will be sustained .
I was thinking of Villar before Noynoy came into the picture .
I was a NAMFREL poll watcher volunteer back in ’86 .
I cried , prayed , wrote to newspaper editor during those times . The letter saw print in the the two major dailies .
I have a fellow M.D. waiting to campaign, even donate to add to the campaign funds . She says it’s for the future of her children.
Thanks ..
Hi Perry,Yes.. It on top of the news here in Central Visayas as well ..Yes , as a Fil-Am from San Diego County.A dual citizen and a registered voter I’m inclined to join others here to maintain the momentum. Right here in Mactan Is ( Lapu-lapu City , Cebu ) .
I’m even willing to help fund a website to reach the voters esp the youth here in Cebu. Soon the attack dogs of others will commerce and it’s better to respond right away.. His support to family planning bill is now being construed as Anti-Life.
To fight this I believe is grass roots / donations from ordinary citizens to fund his campaign. Just like in the States, where amount of donation
to political campaign are limited and public knowledge..
If we want change happen in this country Noynoy has the integrity to start that change. Although Manny Villar has the Billions .we have thousand of OFWs and returning Filipinos/ former Filipinos abroad that should help.
God Bless,
Manny
To Manny:
I like your idea of building a website for the youth. But I also would suggest that part of your website is to encourage the youth to be involve with either NAMFREL or PPCRV, or any non-partisan group (of today) who would help in the election, who would educate the ‘masa’ about the right way to elect, and not be enticed by money – just like Rose did.
I was a volunteer twice with PPCRV in our small town in Upland Cavite, and I enjoyed every bit of it. I was a fresh graduate from college, then, and our – the youths, then – active participation during the election inspired our ‘kababayans’ to do the right thing when voting.
So it is also my hope that the Filipino youths would also ‘go out there and vote’ by sharing their talents and skills in educating those who don’t have access to the internet.
Thanks….
