Panahon na Kaya, Filipino?

Panahon na Kaya, Filipino? (Is it time, Filipino?)

We have endlessly complained about our sorry state and clamored for change in the Philippines.

The Philippines, land of our birth, our homeland, is besieged by our own politicians and leaders, chronically suffering from ongoing loot of its resources by the very people, sworn and entrusted to serve and protect it.

Our poor are poorer, our economy squat, and our country sinking deeper into cold, dark, uncaring caverns of hopelessness.
.
People are tired of ongoing decadence of “business as usual”. Yet when the call for another People Power sounded, people responded with a lackluster: “And who will take over? They are all the same”.

A serious expression of the Filipinos’ loss of faith in our politicians and leaderships, an indication of apathy and indifference. With widespread hunger creeping and sweeping our nation – a step away from desperation.

What next? A Bloody Revolution?

Ahh! But Hope glimmers in the horizon, like the dawn of yellow and orange streaks in pale blue against the darkness of gloom.

Not condemnation, but reformation. Not elimination, but reconciliation. We can all change for the Love of God and the Love of our Nation…

Gawad Kalinga has sparked hope where there was none. The spark has lit red-yellow embers giving warmth to once damp and cold slums of our poor, giving rise to living communities of our empowered poor in colorful, concrete homes.

The little flickering flames are slowly awakening our nation.

Dignity and integrity has been slowly replanted, nurtured and grown amongst our once denigrated, directionless people. Like a new day, the warm rays of sunrise, a promise of a renewed nation, rises in the east. The sun is you.

The warm sun of our ailing but beautiful nation rising, its flag of red, white and blue waving,

Our Philippines is Calling…

Together we can make a difference.

Join us in ISA (ONE),

as we, Filipinos, FilAms and friends, gather to fuel this rising sun for our beloved Philippines. A motorcade from Las Vegas, a bikathon from Los Angeles, Filipinos and FilAms from the entire United States will converge in
San Diego, California. May 24, 2008, for a whole day of celebration and expression.

A Group Trip to the Philippines to show our solidarity for reform in our beloved country is set to follow in June, 2008.

May we count on you?

God Bless!
